The origin of PATCHY
The first ever PATCHY was drawn out of boredom. But the result seems a little rough to be anything good… until it was seen by a loving fan who found him cute and adorable.
This prompted some questions:
“Why do we sometimes think that a thing is ugly just because it is imperfect?”
and
“Is it true what they say that one person’s rubbish is another person’s treasure?“
The original PATCHY was saved and is now framed and hanging at the artist’s family home.
From kitten to Picatso
When the artist discovered that his mum worked in a sad beige cube office, he wanted to inject a bit of personality. All the walls were bare except for the glass window and door that showed off how boring it was even from the outside.
The first large scale PATCHY was conceived.
A large canvas was salvaged. The wooden frame was taped up to keep it protected and a base coat of white house paint was added, and when dry the Glitch Patchy could be drawn and painted. The colourway is inspired by a glitch.
We learnt a lot from this and are FELINE GOOD about it.
